Can anyone help shed some ligh on some of my questions. I have been in contact with C2C customer Service but they were unhelpful. Equally TFL customer service stated that a season ticket for National Rail would only cover London. Not sure this is true. Any help would be much appreciated as I am pretty confused.
My DS has a C2C smartcard and an Oyster. I want to buy a season ticket for him to travel to school. He will be travelling from Dagenham to Chalkwell. The route is pretty straightforward. District Line to Upminster then change to C2C rail.
Should I buy the season ticket to be uploaded on the C2C smartcard or the Oyster card?
Should his season ticket start from Barking to Chalkwell or Upminster to Chalkwell.
Assuming the season ticket covers Barking to Chalkwell. Does any permitted route mean he can tap in at Dageham to start his journey with the C2C smartcard?
Am I correct in thinking if the season ticket covers only Upminster to Chalkwell, he would need to use the Oyster card to cover him from Dagenham to Upminster.
Or should he use both C2C smartcard and Oystercard i.e. Oyster card to Upminster, tap put then tap in with C2C?
Sorry for the questions; I just really need clarity as I don’t often use national rail.
