Cheers. It was more to have an idea of whereabouts he is in the year, but guess it doesn't matter as they've got years to develop further and it is just a snapshot in time. You really can't - standardisation is the reason you have different scores for different schools, they are made up of different populations of children. How can you work out a % even assuming 420 is maximum score when different schools gave different scores? The scores for our son varied by 5 between AGSB, Sale and Stretford. As you probably know, it's not done on percentage as it's a standardised score, so a full scores isn't even necessarily 100%.
It will give you some idea though
Some areas give raw scores as well, or people used to get them from freedom of information requests & work out percentages, but it's a very inaccurate science (& unnecessary, except to give you some idea when practicing, I suppose)I wouldn't worry about this, the only value is for bragging rights & the 11 plus score rarely translates to later results, other than you have selected children who are good at taking exams, so they are likely to carry on being good at exams. Some schools don't give out scores if children are being offered a place, on the basis that it's better for all pupils to start on an even footing. Is there any table of how many children achieved between 334 and 340, 340 and 350, 350 and 361, 362 and 370, the 370 and 380, 380 and 390 etc? Be nice to know where my son placed in the year.
Some authorities release stats about how many pupils achieve each score, but I don't know about your area.
