I would use the official UK government stats as a starting point
The 'Attainment 8' metric is a measure of how pupils do over 8 GCSE subjects and in my opinion it's a better measure than the percentage of top grades used by popular tables like that from the Times / Sunday times as those don't tell you what the average child actually achieves. On the Dfe site you can also search by region with a mileage limit and even create your own list of up to ten schools to compare.
Please remember that league tables** are only a starting point.
** - beware using the A-level league tables. It's difficult to fairly compare school results. IMO None of the league tables, including the Dfe, are more than crude guides. See my Beware School Comparisons via League Tables post
