11 PLUS APPEALS • Kent Test appeal advice re. Lack of agreed dyslexia provision

My daughter sat the Kent Test and was supposed to get several agreed concessions for her diagnosed dyslexia, one of which did not get given in the test. We live on the Kent/East Sussex border and live in Kent, but she is at school in East Sussex, as when we moved there were no places in the village primary school. As a result, we had to go all the way to Folkestone. She was in a room with one other child (a smaller room was one of the four agreed access arrangements) and there was one invigilator in there who both failed to ensure all access arrangements were in place and didn't record or notify anyone that this hadn't happened, so it both couldn't be considered when marking or made clear to her Headteacher, so he could consider it when appealing. The specifics are a very long story and I have a formal apology from both the manager of the Kent Test and from someone within Education and Children's Services in Kent, after I lodged a formal complaint. I have been told that app asking in my only.option.

My daughter gained the 332 marks to pass, as she got 121 in her Maths and 119 in her Reasoning, but only 97 in her Reading. This was very surprising, as despite her dyslexia, she is an excellent reader and scored in the 90% in all 8 practice papers we did to prepare.

I am putting together the appeal to send off in the 1st March. I have all of the evidence of how the system has failed my child and the apologies from the various people. My daughter's teacher is putting together a letter regarding her ability and also talking about her dyslexia and how it affects her and how she can achieve when proper direction concessions are in place. We are appealing Highworth in Ashford, which is know for its jus c provision, and my daughter is very musical, having just got her Grade 3 piano and will soon sit her Grade 2 violin, so this is really why I want her at the school.

Can anyone think of any other evidence I can put together?

I'm Head of English and Director of the More Able in a non -selective school and some colleagues have offered to invigilate my daughter doing an English SATS paper or an 11+ English mock paper and then testifying that it was fine with no help etc. Does this sounds like something worth doing, or will it not be taken seriously? I don't want to put my daughter through it if not. I have got her to do several English SATS papers already as practice for the SATS, and she has scored top marks in all, but I am also assuming this isn't worth mentioning, as it hasn't been done at school?

Any advice would be great! I can prove that the Kent Test let her down, and her musical ability, easily, it's her ability that I need to make sure I have full evidence of.

Thanks!
