You're very true ! I have been in touch with the admission office and they said there will be some movement by the end of the term once parents will be starting to visit independent schools. They never mentioned the number as of course they don't know how many. Given the data from previous years suggesting it would be way more than 3/4. As you said, maybe some parents will decide not to move and try and get places nearer grammar schools. I also know from parents last 2 years school offered places in September, at least 3/4. We will have to wait.That does sound like an odd comment from the admissions team. In the year DD joined a few students were offered places in the first week of the academic year and, if memory serves me right, one after that. Someone had a scholarship place but was offered HBS in September, took up the place, was in school for a day or two and then went back to the independent. House prices were too high and the free state-school place didn't make a good trade-off, especially given the scholarship.
There is always a bit of a shake out of people holding two or more places, courtesy of the independent sector, as the child can only attend one school. And that's just September.
