If you think you may not move away from Redbridge and will apply for Woodford County High School, then your DD needs to sit the Redbridge exam. Can anyone tell me that I’ve done the correct thing in registering my daughter for the CSSE and Redbridge 11+ exams? The situation is that we live in the Redbridge catchment but are looking at moving to Westcliff and are particularly keen on WHSG. I understand about WHSG having an allocation of places for out of catchment girls but we are thinking of moving anyway. What I'm worried about though are the results of the different 11+ exams impacting on or conflicting with each other. As I understand it my daughter’s mark for her CSSE wouldn’t be shared with Redbridge (for Woodford County High School) but would it be shared by Redbridge for WHSG? And if so which exam result will they use for WHSG which is our first choice and we are prioritising practice for the CSSE exam? Thank you in advance for your insight!
Whether or not you will move, if you want your DD to be eligible for Westcliff (and / or Southend - presumably you have visited both?) High School for Girls, she has to sit the CSSE exam.
The Redbridge exam only gives access to WCHS and ICHS. The results are not shared with any other area.
If you move out of the Common Catchment Area for the Redbridge grammar schools, naming WCHS on your CAF will almost certainly be a completely wasted option.
The CSSE exam gives access to the ten CSSE member schools (for girls, the grammar schools are WHSG, SHSG and Colchester County High School- plus the Selective places at St Bernard’s and Shoeburyness High School if you do move into their common priority area, which, looking at the map on the Shoeburyness High website, looks like postcode areas SS0 - SS3 Inc., plus SS9). The score from the CSSE exam are not shared with any other area (the exam is written in-house).
If you want your DD to be eligible for Chelmsford County High School, she will have to sit the separate exam for there, but the closing date for registration may have passed.
