THE SCHOOL’S SELECTION CRITERIA 5.1 5.2 Places will be allocated as follows:

5.1.1 To a girl who has an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) which names The Tiffin Girls’ School specifically on the EHCP (for guidance: there are separate processes to be followed for naming a school on an EHCP and you should speak first with your Local Authority who administers the process. Girls with an EHCP will need to have demonstrated their academic ability through the School’s test procedure, see Section 3 above).

5.1.2 Places will then be allocated on the basis of selection by ability as demonstrated in the School’s test procedure in rank order of the combined mark within the appropriate category listed below and in the following priority order:

5.1.2.1 Currently Looked after Children and Previously Looked After Children whose combined mark is higher than or equal to the 350th ranked mark of all applicants who sat the Stage Two Test.

5.1.2.2 Up to 60 girls whose combined mark is higher than or equal to the 350th ranked mark of all applicants who sat the Stage Two Test in the following order of priority:

i) Girls whose permanent place of residence is within the Inner Area or within the Designated Area and who qualify for receipt of Pupil Premium Funding on the closing date to register for the Stage One Test (the ‘SIF Deadline’) then

ii) Girls whose permanent place of residence is within the Inner Area.

5.1.2.3 In the event of there being more than 60 girls who are eligible under paragraph 5.1.2.2 and there is a tied-score to fill the 60th place, the place will be offered to the girl who lives nearest to the School (as measured in paragraph 5.2.4). If more than one girl is on the 60th score and all live the same distance from the school as measured in paragraph 5.2.4, the place will be allocated by random selection and this process will be independently verified.

5.1.3 The remaining places after the initial allocation under paragraph 5.1.2 on 1 March 2025 will all be allocated from applicants who sat the Stage Two Test in rank order of the combined mark in the following order of priority:

5.1.3.1 Girls whose permanent place of residence is within the Designated Area of the School and then
5.1.3.2 Girls whose permanent place of residence is outside the Designated Area of the School

I'm reading from that that the main advantage of being inn the Inner Area is getting a chance of one of the first 60 places (after girls with an EHCP naming the school have been placed), if there are fewer applying who qualify for an offer under 5.1.2.2.(i) than '60 minus EHCP '?

Eta, actually, the EHCP and LAC / PLAC are offered completely separately first, before the 'up to 60' places to be offered under 5.1.22. The 'up to' bit would then be operative if there were not a total of at least 60 applicants eligible as either PP or living within the Inner Area.

Re ranking, that must be by score initially as the tiebreak refers to breaking a tie on score. I suspect that it's unlikely that there would be more than 60 in the PP category, so they would all be offered, then the remaining places of the 60 offered in score order to girls whose only 'claim' is thar they live in the Inner Area (that is, they don't have an EHCP or are LAC / PLAC or eligible for PP). After that 60 is reached, the rest of the places offered in score order within the whole wider priority area, then outside of this, but thar is unlikely.
