Hello community members,
We are first-time parents, looking to move to Orpington. My DS will join reception next year. Education is a priority for us but overwhelmed with 11+ exam patterns/discussions as back in the country I came from we have had a different education system. To cut to the chase, we realised (a) along with outstanding school, access to the right tuition is important to prepare a DS for 11+ exam. (b) Not to say efforts from the child and support from parents are more important than anything else.
However to focus on point (a) in the context of house search. We came across two schools Crofton Junior School & Warren Road Primary School both are outstanding. We noticed Warren Road primary school has a larger ground, swimming pool facilities etc. So along with the studies we are hoping that DS will be able to join various school activity/sports clubs.
W.r.t. tuition, my understanding is that we have to target grammar schools and then accordingly join the tuition that would help prepare the child for the targeted school 11+ exam and has a good/excellent success rate. We would like to focus on QE boys, Wilson's and St Olav schools.
Many thanks
